Popular destination for travelers for the past 25 years, the newly revamped Savute Safari Lodge takes the safari experience to even greater levels of luxury.

The Savute Safari Lodge, which is part of the collection of luxury lodges by Desert & Delta Safaris, will reopen on June 1, 2024 following a full reconstruction. After being a popular destination for travelers for the past 25 years, the newly revamped Savute Safari Lodge takes the safari experience to even greater levels of luxury.

The rooms at the Desert & Delta lodge offer a mesmerizing natural setting and comfortable temperature control with a unique blend of natural thatching and canvas. In a first-ever addition to the lodge, private outdoor showers have been seamlessly integrated, allowing guests to enjoy the enchantment of a shower under the starry sky or a refreshing cooldown after an exciting morning safari.

The guest rooms have been meticulously crafted to provide awe-inspiring vistas of the renowned Savute Channel. This natural marvel extends from the Linyanti River to the Savute Marsh, breathing vitality into the western part of Chobe National Park throughout countless millennia. Its captivating narrative of fluctuation unfolds through its unique patterns of flooding and drying.

The interior design of the lodge combines traditional safari lodge elements with a modern touch, striking a balance between sophistication and simplicity. The color scheme takes inspiration from the contrasting beauty of the Kalahari, incorporating earthy greens and vibrant hues reminiscent of life-giving rains.

The communal area stands out primarily due to its thoughtful redesign, emphasizing breathtaking vistas of one of Botswana’s most awe-inspiring waterholes. A raised platform, featuring a central hearth, extends towards a lowered hide, granting guests the incredible opportunity to intimately observe wildlife and engage with the abundant, eye-catching animals that thrive in Savute.

The exceptional watering spot has been showcased in internationally recognized nature films like Savage Kingdom by National Geographic and Planet Earth series by the BBC. These documentaries have depicted intense clashes between competing predators and large congregations of thirsty elephants. This location provides one of the finest wildlife encounters within the confines of a lodge in Africa.

Resident elephants journey towards the Channel to indulge in eating, drinking, and playing, while expansive groups of zebras migrate from the northern regions to the grasslands and abundant waterholes in the southwest. This remarkable migration is recognized as one of the world’s longest among land mammals. The migration attracts significant numbers of lions and offers opportunities to spot leopards and cheetahs, making it an essential experience for visitors.

Savute is renowned for its exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities, including sightings of endangered African wild dogs, known for their unmatched hunting prowess. This area is also home to a substantial population of hyenas, formidable predators in their own league, frequently engaging in competition with lions for food sources.
